The Hydrogen Delivered Lifecycle Analysis Tool, H2DLAT, is a web tool developed by CATF that analyzes the full lifecycle emissions of hydrogen from production to transportation. It allows users to calculate and compare emissions from technologies across different production pathways (steam methane reforming (SMR), autothermal reforming (ATR), partial oxidation (POX) and electrolysis) and select from different inputs (e.g., electricity, gas source, efficiency, carbon capture rate, etc.).
This tool also features a transportation module, which allows users to select among four different hydrogen carriers (compressed hydrogen, ammonia, liquified hydrogen and LOHC), the electricity/heat source for conversion/reconversion, and the distance travelled via ship, truck or pipeline.
How to use the tool: Users can evaluate three different cases of hydrogen production or hydrogen production and transport from different pathways and compare the results (shown at the bottom of the page).
More information about the web tool including inputs and assumptions can be found in the “Reference document” and the “data inputs.xls”. The H2DLAT is based on a more comprehensive hydrogen LCA tool developed by Cerulogy on behalf of CATF. This tool allows for higher customization in some of the parameters, assumptions, and input data.
